The Community Health Practitioners Board of Nigeria (CHPRBN) was established by the need to regulate Community Health Practice, which was consequent upon creation of a group of Health Practitioners – Community Health Officers, Community Health Extension Workers and Junior Community Health Extension Workers, whose training started in 1978. These cadres are trained in Colleges/Schools of Health Technology and University Teaching Hospitals across Nigeria. Currently, there are 161 CHPRBN-accredited Colleges/Schools of Health Technology and 16 University Teaching Hospitals (for Community Health Officers’ training) in Nigeria.
The Community Health Practitioners Board of Nigeria (CHPRBN) was established by Decree 61 of 1992 and inaugurated in December 2000. It regulates Community Health Practice, which includes Community Health Officers, Extension Workers, and Junior Extension Workers, trained since 1978 in accredited institutions across Nigeria.
